We're still flipping out about how amazing Death's Gambit looks

Written by

Since we've started the trend of bringing you undeniably bad ass things on The Stoned Gamer, there's a chance you already read about Death's Gambit when we discussed it back in February. Since then, Death's Gambit became a PlayStation 4 exclusive and now has the backing of Adult Swim Games. In those few months, the world also lost Prince, Muhammad Ali, Phife Dawg, Kimbo Slice, and Hawk from American Gladiators -- all of those names being equally important. Unrelated? Probably not, stoned gamers. The game is called 'Death's Gambit' for a reason.

Not much has been revealed about the storyline of Death's Gambit aside from the "Become the agent of Death and rid this world of immortals" tagline that's now on their official site. As far as the aesthetic of Death's Gambit, we've already gushed about how satisfying the gameplay looks and the fact the game takes place on an alien medieval planet is something that's strangely never been done before in the gaming world. Perhaps that's why we're still talking about this project months later. It's a refreshing approach to the side-scrolling genre, not to mention it's basically the game everyone wanted as a kid but was never sophisticated enough to articulate it.

Now that PlayStation is behind the project, the Sony gods thought it would only be appropriate to make our brains implode by releasing a 'boss trailer' for Death's Gambit, further illustrating how incredibly dope things are shaping up for this indie project. On a side note since we're on the topic of extraordinary sci-fi games that are throwbacks to the 16-bit gaming days, some developer needs to lock herself in a garage until we get a true sequel of Super Nintendo's Xardion. It was the first game I paid a Blockbuster late-rental fee on -- and I wasn't even bothered by it. Blockbuster, back when humans used to live in caves.

Zeus

Zeus is represented by Galactus in his avatar image because he has an immature obsession with Marvel when they went all sci-fi back in the mid 80s. I'm the creator of The Stoned Gamer, MiddleEasy, and Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Just kidding about the Nickelodeon stuff, but that would be really cool. I also produced nutty things for MERRY JANE, and a former writer for High Times Magazine.
